The Cincinnati Bengals are on a little bit of a roll right now.
They defeated the Arizona Cardinals 37-14 a week after beating the Miami Dolphins 45-21.
That’s an 82-35 scoring differential over the last two games.
Here’s what we learned from the win over the Cardinals.
Cody Ford can catch (and run)
This wasn’t some goal-line trick play for one yard. This was a real catch and then a fight for extra yards by a 345-pound birthday boy.
If you didn’t think that was special, then consider the fact that he became the heaviest player in NFL history to gain 20+ yards from scrimmage.
Even Ford’s QB realized it was a shocking play.
Ja’Marr Chase wants to finish the season with a bang
Joe Burrow has been giving it his all, even though the season is over. And so has his top target.
One week after a nine-reception, 109-yard game against the Dolphins, Chase turned in seven receptions along with two scores against Arizona.
That resulted in him setting an NFL record of 80+ receptions, 1,000+ yards, and 7+ touchdowns in each of his first five seasons.
Shemar Stewart is going to be okay
Yeah, it’s just one sack, but that’s how these things start. Stewart also had a tackle for a loss and a QB hit.
Remember, Stewart was able to generate good pressure against the Cleveland Browns in the opener. He would later struggle with health, but now that he’s back, he’s finally disrupting opposing offensive lines, including on this holding call.
Dax Hill is becoming a star
It looks like the Bengals might have their starting corners of the future in Hill and DJ Turner.
Hill has been absolutely shut down in recent weeks.
And that trend continued against the Cardinals.
Say what you want, but Cincinnati looks like a team that is coming together just a little too late. That’s good news for next year when the young defense will be far more ready to start the season.
