With the NFC East title already theirs, and a playoff spot already locked up, the Eagles Week 17 game against the Bills was the last opportunity for some of the starters to hit some pretty impressive marks — assuming head coach Nick Sirianni decides to rest starters in Week 18 against he Commanders.
DALLAS GOEDERT
The tight end scored the first touchdown of the game on a one-yard pass by Jalen Hurts for his 11th TD of the season. Goedert has now more than doubled his previous career-high for touchdowns in a season (5), and his 11 TDs sets a new franchise record for single-season receiving touchdowns by a tight end. Not too bad for a guy who wasn’t a lock to re-sign with Philadelphia during his free agency earlier in the year.
A.J. BROWN
Despite the long list of issues with the Eagles passing game this season, A.J. Brown still managed to notch 1,000 yards, hitting the mark in the first half against the Bills in Week 17.
This marks Brown’s fourth-consecutive 1,000-plus yard seasons, hitting the mark in each of his four seasons in Philadelphia, and setting a new franchise record.
Brown joins Saquon Barkley who hit 1,000 yards recently, and DeVonta Smith needs just 44 more yards to cross the mark, too. Overall, the Eagles offense may have underperformed according to expectations this season, but they’re still one of the most talented groups to play in Philly.
