NFL Week 17 betting advice: Giants-Raiders picks and props

Welcome to the New York Giants betting angle, Week 17 edition. Each week, I’m giving you my three favorite wagers for that week’s New York Giants game. My one rule: I won’t ever give you wagers that are less than -120. No gimmies here.

It’s rare for the teams with the two worst records to meet this late in the season, but here we are. New York travels to Las Vegas this week to face the Raiders. The teams are both 2-13 and the loser of this game will be sitting in the pole position for the first pick in the 2026 Draft – always a valuable commodity. That dynamic adds to the difficulty in handicapping a game between two teams that have seen their seasons go from bad to worse.

Many fans of both teams will be rooting for a loss, but NFL players and coaches are performing for their livelihood and don’t think that way. So let’s not expect any in-game tanking. The Raiders have already ruled out their two best players, however, in TE Brock Bowers and DE Maxx Crosby. Is that suspicious? I don’t know how injured either player actually is, but Bowers has been battling a knee injury for the entire season. For their part, the Giants will be without LT Andrew Thomas (hamstring).

The Raiders almost beat the Texans last week, while the Giants fell at home 16-13 to the Vikings, despite knocking out Minnesota’s starting quarterback. The Giants had 13 net passing yards, didn’t score an offensive touchdown against Minnesota’s aggressive defense, and aren’t playing good football right now. Recent results for both teams make this game even harder to handicap.

The line on FanDuel is NYG -1.5, with a game total of 40.5. A 2-13 team being favored on the road? That might be a first. You know what I won’t be doing? Picking the spread, the Moneyline, or the total. This game is the very definition of a stay-away. I’ll pick some props but I don’t have a lot of conviction this week.

My picks were 2-1 each of the last two weeks. I’ll try to give out more winners this week.

Here are this week’s picks. All lines and odds are from FanDuel and are as of Friday, December 26.

  1. Ashton Jeanty OVER 70.5 rushing yards (-114). This is a big number, but I’ve been making money betting rushing overs against the Giants (including last week with Aaron Jones, Sr.) so I’ll risk this one. The Giants rank 31st in the NFL in rushing defense, at 150.9 yards per game. Jeanty is coming off of a monster 124-yard effort last week (with 10 missed tackles forced), but that’s one of only three times this season he’s gone over this number. With Bowers out I think he’ll be especially busy, as he tries to finish strong in what’s been a very disappointing season for the 6th overall pick in the 2025 draft.
  • Tyrone Tracy, Jr. OVER 58.5 rushing yards (-114). Tracy has topped this total five of the last six weeks, and he’s been given at least 15 carries in four of the last five games. I’ve done well with his overs, so let’s go for it again. Last week New York came out extremely run-heavy and while I think they’ll try to get Jaxson Dart back on track this week, Tracy should get his, against a middling run defense.
  • Tre Tucker long reception UNDER 21.5 yards (-120). Tucker should get some extra looks with Bowers out, but that might just mean more short and intermediate stuff. It’s also possible that most of the extra volume will go to Jeanty and Michael Mayer. Tucker hasn’t had a single catch longer than 20 yards in five straight outings so perhaps he’s overdue, but I’ll bank on that trend continuing.

Those are the picks for Week 17. Good luck with your wagers!
