The Atlanta Falcons are on an unfortunate hot streak, winning their last two games and three of the past five. That puts the Falcons at 6-9 going into their Week 17 matchup with the L.A. Rams, meaning that the first round pick going west is now 11th overall. If the Rams lose to the Falcons this week, it would not only drop L.A. further in the race for a good seed in the playoffs, it would also drop their other first round pick.
Potentially as low to the mid-teens.
If the Rams lose, the Falcons would improve to 7-9. If the Cowboys, Ravens, Vikings, and Bucs all win, then L.A.’s first round pick could drop as far as 16th.
Just a few weeks ago that was a solid top-10 pick.
The Cowboys play the Commanders, the Bucs play the Dolphins, the Vikings play the Lions, and the Ravens play the Packers.
On the other hand, if the Rams beat the Falcons as they should, then Atlanta/LA’s first round pick could even move up 2-3 spots and back into the top-10.
Obviously the Rams focus is winning so they can stay in the hunt for the NFC West crown and the 1-seed, waiting to see if Seattle will falter against the Carolina Panthers this week. But an important aside to all of this is that as Raheem Morris attempts to keep his job, as well as Kirk Cousins if he can help the Falcons win their last four games of the season and maybe change some minds about the need to part ways in 2026, the Rams need to land a blow against Atlanta this week so that they will have better ammunition to reload next year.
