New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart said he and wide receiver Jalin Hyatt “weren’t on the same page” on a costly interception right before halftime in Sunday’s 29-21 loss to the Washington Commanders.
in watching the play, highly-respected NFL analyst Brian Baldinger was far less politically correct. Baldinger, whose ’Baldy’s Breakdowns’ are a popular online feature, on Tuesday destroyed Hyatt, an under-performing and rarely-used third-year receiver, for causing the interception
“Can Jaxson Dart get just a little bit of help? … Jalin Hyatt here is going to run this dig route, this box cut right here. And, it’s a horrible route. That’s not how you run a route. You don’t round it off. You don’t slow down. You drop your weight and YOU RUN A BOX CUT is what you do! You go sharp to separate from that corner … You don’t run a route like this. He lets the corner jump right in front of him. It’s a terrible route. He slows down, he’s not sharp.
“Can we get the quarterback some help here? Please!”
Hyatt was a third-round pick by the Giants in 2023, when GM Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll engineered a trade up with the Los Angeles Rams to select him 73rd overall.
Hyatt has just 13 catches over the past two seasons, and 36 in 41 games with the Giants. The four snaps he played Sunday were his first since Week 11 vs. the Green Bay Packers.
