The Miami Dolphins traveled to Pittsburgh to play the Steelers on Monday Night Football in week fifteen only to be embarrassed by their opponents to the tune of a 28-15 final score that really wasn’t fully indicative of how poorly the team played.
One player whose warts were on display for the entire world to see was quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.
On Tuesday, during his availability with the South Florida media, Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel didn’t rule out the possibility that someone other than Tagovailoa would be manning the quarterback spot for the Dolphins against the Cincinnati Bengals this upcoming Sunday.
When asked if a quarterback change was in the cards, McDaniel had this to say:
“The quarterback play last night was not good enough, so for me, everything is on the table... When the standard is not being met, something has to give.”
He proceeded to say that if a move is made, the decision would be made at practice on Wednesday.
After leading the league in passing yards in 2023, and completion percentage in 2024, Tagovailoa is having his worst season in the National Football League in 2025 and now leads the league in interceptions thrown after tossing another on Monday against the Steelers. His 15 interceptions on the year are one more than Geno Smith has thrown for the Las Vegas Raiders this season.
Behind Tagovailoa, the Dolphins have former 2021 second overall pick of the New York Jets, Zach Wilson, as well as 2025 rookie 7th round pick Quinn Ewers at their disposal if the team does indeed decide to make a change at the quarterback position for the Dolphins’ final three games this season.
