The Indianapolis Colts are on the road to take on the Seattle Seahawks in week 15 of the 2025 season, kickoff is at 4:25 p.m. EST.
Seven days ago might as well have been a lifetime. Last Sunday if I had told you that the Colts week 15 starting quarterback would be Philip Rivers, there might have been internal talk at SB Nation about removing me from the site. But alas, that’s exactly what I’m telling you today.
There’s no reason to rehash the events of the last week. Even if you were in a coma you were likely aware of the happenings. My wife who was born in California and mostly raised in Kansas who’s closest connection to football is via Taylor Swift asked me about the “old guy” that the Colts signed. If Colts news makes it to her without it coming from me, it’s sure to be insane. And this week was insane.
So what does it mean for our Colts?
There’s just no way this thing works. It can’t.
But on the other hand there was no way Rulon Gardner was beating Alexander Karelin at the 2000 Olympics, there was no way the 1980 US hockey team was beating the USSR at the 1980 Olympics, there was no way the 2007 New York Giants were beating the undefeated New England Patriots, there was way no way the four year old Florida Marlins were winning the world series in 1997, there was no way Buster Douglas was beating Mike Tyson in 1990, there was no way the cursed Boston Red Sox were coming back from a 3-0 series deficit to beat the New York Yankees in 2004. There was just no way any of those things were going to happen.
And there’s just no way Philip Rivers is getting the Colts a win today, or for the rest of the season.
But that’s why Philip Rivers is an Indianapolis Colt. If there’s any chance at all this thing works, if by some miracle the 2025 Indianapolis Colts put it together over the last month of the season, if your favorite team gets into the playoffs this season, well, a guy like Philip Rivers is the only conceivable player who could make something like that happen.
On paper, this isn’t improbable. It’s impossible. It would take a miracle to pull this off.
But Philip Rivers believes in miracles.
Prediction:
Seahawks: 33
Colts: 19
As always, go Colts.
