It’s the same story every week for the Las Vegas Raiders this season. They show up (barely), play a game and get dominated. The Week 15 31-0 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles was essentially like watching Hangover Part II. The setting might be slightly different, but the outcome is the same.
For the second week in a row, the Raiders allowed a team to hold the ball for nearly two-thirds of the game, as the Eagles won the time of possession battle 39:25 to 20:35. Additionally, Philadelphia had more third-down conversions (10) than Las Vegas had first downs (seven), and a struggling offense out-gained the Silver and Black by over 300 yards: 387 to 75.
The latter part of that sentence is what makes this loss even more frustrating. The Eagles hadn’t scored 30 points since Week 8, which was at the end of October, and had lost three games in a row coming into this week. But current Fox Analyst and future Hall of Fame tight end Rob Gronkowski put it perfectly when—at halftime, mind you—he said: “When you play the Raiders, it’s like putting Neosporin on your cuts. They heal those wounds.”
Safe to say the Birds’ wounds were healed, leading us into the internet’s reaction to the Raiders’ eighth loss in a row.
I wonder what Gronk’s buddy, Tom Brady, thinks about his comments?
ESPN’s Ryan McFadden adds to how bad this season has been, it’s the first time the franchise has been shut out twice since the second year it existed…
Pete Carroll says that no one got hurt today. Maybe no one playing in the game, but that hurt me and everyone else who watched it.
This is well said. The most frustrating part is that the team clearly has no direction.
Unfortunately, unlike John Cena, we have three games left to watch. Also, shoutout to one hell of a career for Cena.
Three more losses until Fernando Mendoza…
AllRebel, I see what ya did there!
What keeps you watching the games? Maxx Crosby is one of the few reasons to tune in.
