The Miami Dolphins have climbed back from the 1-5 hole they dug for themselves to start the season — finding themselves just one game back of an even .500 record. They can inch closer to an improbable playoff berth by defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday Night Football this upcoming Monday. It won’t be easy, but if the team plays like they played against the New York Jets this past Sunday, it is certainly possible.
Against the Jets in week fourteen, the Dolphins matched their largest win margin of the 2025 season — downing New York by a score of 34-10. Earlier this year, the Dolphins secured their second victory of the season by defeating the Atlanta Falcons by the same score.
In that game, Miami out-rushed the Falcons 141 yards to just 45, holding star back Bijan Robinson to just 25 yards on the ground. This past week, the Dolphins out-rushed the Jets 239 yards to 65. Noticing a pattern?
Fins Up
This week’s Fins Up player is second-year running back Jaylen Wright. After electric runner De’Von Achane left the game late in the second quarter with a rib injury, Wright took over as Miami’s lead back and led the team with some tough runs. He amassed 107 yards rushing on 24 carries — good for 4.5 yards per carry — and a rushing score.
Sunday’s yardage total was easily Wright’s best on the season — surpassing the 28 yards he had against Atlanta in the aforementioned contest. The Dolphins will be happy to have his services this week — especially if Achane is hampered by the rib ailment he incurred against New York.
Fins Down
This week’s Fins Down player is wide receiver Nick Westbrook-Ikinhe. NWI hasn’t caught a pass for the Dolphins since their victory over the Buffalo Bills on November 9th, over a full month ago. In fact, the 2025 free agent addition has only caught 11 passes for the Dolphins all season long after nabbing 32 for the Titans last year. He also had 9 receiving touchdowns last year in Tennessee, yet has none for Miami this season.
But it isn’t just his lack of production on the field that is hurting Miami. He is in danger of costing the Dolphins a mid-round compensatory pick with the playing time he’s receiving.
With the receiver’s inefficiency on the field, it’s probably time to give his blocking snaps to Cedrick Wilson Jr. in order to preserve the extra 4th round selection Miami is in line for in the upcoming draft.
