The Philadelphia Eagles opened the 21-day practice window for 35-year-old long snapper Charley Hughlett to return from injured reserve, according to an official team announcement.
This development was expected after the Eagles waived Cal Adomitis on Tuesday evening.
Hughlett suffered a core injury in late September that required surgery. He’s now presumably healthy enough to suit up again. The Eagles have until 4:00 PM Eastern on Saturday, December 13 to activate Hughlett from IR in time to play against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.
There’s reason to believe Hughlett’s return to the field is the key to saving the Eagles’ 2025 season and Jake Elliott’s career:
The Eagles originally signed Hughlett in March, somewhat surprisingly opting not to retain two-time Super Bowl champion Rick Lovato. There was thought that Lovato was going to call it a career but he had a nine-game stint with the Los Angeles Chargers before he then retired in early November.
