Miami Dolphins cornerback Rasul Douglas has been on fire this season, and he is finally being rewarded for his performances.
Douglas was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 14, as per David Furones of the Sun Sentinel.
Unlike the FedEx Air & Ground awards, this award is not determined by fan vote. Instead, a national selection committee of 101 media members who cover the NFL vote on the award. Douglas is the second Dolphin to win the award this season, with linebacker Jordyn Brooks winning the award in both Week 8 and Week 11. In fact, the Dolphins are the only team in the NFL with three recognitions this year.
Last Sunday against the Jets, Douglas defended five passes (league-most), had two tackles, and managed an interception for the second week in a row. He is the only AFC defender to achieve those numbers in any game this season.
Douglas has been a pleasant surprise for the Dolphins this season, signing for the team just weeks before the start of the season. He leads the team in interceptions (two), and has been the heartbeat of a secondary that has lost many key starters to injury. In fact, since November 26th, Douglas has been not only one of Miami’s best corners, but one of the best corners in the league.

Douglas will look to continue his good form in Week 15, as the Dolphins head up north to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 15, in a game with massive playoff implications.
