3 Reasons Why – Dolphins win fourth straight in rout over Jets

Well, that was easy.

The Miami Dolphins defeated the New York Jets in Week 15 by a score of 34-10. The score was an honest one, which is to say that the Dolphins completely dominated the Jets, and fully deserved their fourth successive win to improve to 6-7.

Led by their defense and stellar run game, here’s three reasons why the Dolphins beat the Jets on Sunday.

1. The Run Offices of Achane, Wright, and Gordon

Have you or a loved one been affected by a bad run game this season? Fear not, because the run offices of Achane, Wright, and Gordon are here to help!

Of course, I’m talking about Dolphins running backs De’Von Achane, Jaylen Wright, and Ollie Gordon III.

The trio combined over 200 yards and three touchdowns on the ground on Sunday, bulldozing their way through a hapless Jets defense. Achane had 92 yards on just seven carries, but exited the game early due to a rib injury. In his absence, up stepped Wright, who led the way with 24 carries (career high) for 107 rushing yards (career high). Behind him, rookie Ollie Gordon III had just 17 yards, but managed to sneak into the end zone for his third touchdown of the season. All three running backs did their job, and Miami rode their coattails to a win.

Much has been said about the Dolphins and their inability to perform in cold weather, but prior installments on this team relied on their aerial prowess to win games. The 2025 Dolphins are a run-first operation, and that translates in December. This season, they have the 8th-most rushing yards as a team (1,644).

2. Sacks On The Beach

Six sacks, Jeremy? Six? That’s insane.

Bonus points if you understood that reference, but yes, you read that correctly—the Miami Dolphins defense had six sacks against the Jets, a season-high.

Miami’s front-seven terrorized the Jets’ offensive line all day long, and every play for the Jets seemed to end before it even began. The Jets only managed three offensive points via a field goal in the fourth quarter, with their sole touchdown coming on a punt return in the first quarter. They also managed just 207 yards of total offense.

Special shoutout to defensive tackle Zach Sieler, who had 2.5 sacks on the day.

3. Turnovers Galore

Continuing with the defensive theme, how about Miami’s defense causing three turnovers?

The Dolphins picked off the Jets three times, and also recovered a fumble. Any time the Jets started to build some momentum, the Dolphins snatched the ball away. And though it probably didn’t matter much, the best of the day was this one-handed snag by Ethan Bonner, below.

For most of the season, the Dolphins ranked among the NFL’s worst teams in terms of creating turnovers. But as of today, they rank 10th in the NFL in total turnovers (17), and 2nd in the NFL in fumbles recovered (1oth). A stellar improvement, to say the least.

Next Week

Next week, the now 6-7 Dolphins will face the 7-6 Pittsburgh Steelers on the road on Monday night. The Steelers are coming off a 27-22 over the Baltimore Ravens. This is a game with huge playoff implications, as both teams are fighting for a Wild Card spot in the playoffs.

What did you think of the Dolphins win over the Jets? Can they make a playoff run? Let us know down below!
