After a disappointing outing on Thanksgiving Day against the Green Bay Packers, the Detroit Lions were looking to bounce back during their Week 14 matchup with the Dallas Cowboys on “Thursday Night Football.” And in what was essentially a must-win for the Lions in order to keep their playoff hopes alive, they answered the call in an emphatic way, rolling over the squad that was once known as “America’s Team” to the tune of 44-30 in front of a lively Ford Field crowd.
All three units made plenty of plays on the way to the Lions’ eighth victory of the season. The defense forced Dallas’ offense into three turnovers, including the game-sealing interception from Lions cornerback D.J. Reed. On special teams, longtime veteran Tom Kennedy made the most of his opportunities as a kick returner, as he routinely set the offense up with a short field. And on the offensive side of the ball, the Lions appeared to tap into their ways from the 2023 and 2024 season on their way to putting up 40+ points against the Cowboys for the second consecutive year.
There are still things to clean up for Detroit ahead of this final four-game stretch, but there was also plenty to like during a fairly convincing win over a surging opponent. What was most impressive to you about the Lions’ Week 14 win?
My answer: I am going with quarterback Jared Goff. On a national stage, the Lions’ veteran quarterback put on a clinic. He routinely found his playmakers in stride on several in-breakers that turned into chunk plays for the offense, and even when pressured, he was able to deliver the ball with accuracy in some really critical situations.
