There is no doubt that one of the reasons athletes like being in or around the New York market is that it can help set up post-playing career opportunities. New York Giants backup quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston will explore broadcasting this weekend when each works as an analyst during NFL Week 14 action on Sunday.
Wilson will be part of the ‘NFL Today’ crew for CBS Sports.
Winston will work for FOX Sports on the FOX NFL Kickoff and FOX NFL Sunday shows.
Winston was a sensation when working as a Super Bowl correspondent for FOX Sports Digital. Remember his viral exchange with Saquon Barkley before Winston signed with the Giants?
Winston is, of course legendary for his fun-loving, gregarious, quotable nature. Wilson is more buttoned up and rehearsed than the unpredictable Winston. Wilson, though, is smart and smooth in front of a microphone.
It will be interesting to see how each does as they test the waters of possible post-football careers.
