Fire and Ice: Top starts, sits and sleepers in fantasy football for Week 14

This fantasy football start-sit article aims to identify sleepers and the best and worst performers of the week.

  • Start Jacoby Brissett: He has scored at least 18.7 points in each of his seven starts this season. The only quarterbacks who have scored more points per game in starts in 2025 than Brissett are Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes and Jaxson Dart (min. three starts).
  • Sit Patrick Mahomes: He will be going from the most favorable matchup last week to the worst fantasy matchup this Sunday. The Houston Texans are allowing a league-low 11.6 fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks in 2025.

Fire and Ice: Top starts, sits and sleepers in fantasy football for Week 14

Are you struggling to set your Week 14 fantasy lineups? Maybe I can help… Below you can find my top fire (boom) and ice (bust) players at each position for Week 14. I also include my sleeper of the week at each position in case you are in a deeper league or in need of a replacement for an ice player.

Don’t miss my Fire and Ice chart at the bottom of this page. There, I have listed out all of my fire, good, sleeper and ice plays for Week 14 of the 2025 fantasy football season.

Quarterbacks

Fire QB Start of the Week: Jacoby Brissett (vs LAR)

Options for the fire start of the week are slim pickings for Week 14. Outside of Josh Allen and Joe Burrow, there aren’t many other quarterbacks I am excited to start this week. Jacoby Brissett may not have the ceiling to put up a 30-plus fantasy point performance, but he has been incredibly consistent this season. He has scored at least 18.7 points in each of his seven starts this season. The only quarterbacks who have scored more points per game in starts in 2025 than Brissett are Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes and Jaxson Dart (min. three starts). The Los Angeles Rams have been a solid defense this season, but they just let Bryce Young throw three touchdowns on them last week. Brissett is a top-10 play in Week 13.

Sleeper QB of the Week:  Daniel Jones (at JAX)

November was a month to forget for Daniel Jones, who has scored fewer than 17 fantasy points in four straight games, but there is hope he will bounce back to kick off December. Six of the last seven quarterbacks to face the Jacksonville Jaguars have put up at least 20 fantasy points against them, including Patrick Mahomes, Matthew Stafford, Geno Smith and Davis Mills, who all scored over 26 points. The Jaguars are the No. 1 rushing defense in the NFL this season, which should force the Colts to have to lean on their passing game to win a crucial divisional matchup.

Ice QB Start of the Week: Patrick Mahomes (vs HOU)

Patrick Mahomes had a monster performance against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 13 … but every quarterback has a great fantasy day against the Cowboys. Mahomes had scored just 10.5, 13.3 and 17.1 fantasy points in the three games leading up to Week 13. He will be going from the most favorable matchup last week to the worst fantasy matchup this Sunday. The Houston Texans are allowing a league-low 11.6 fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks in 2025. No quarterback has hit 20-plus fantasy points in a game against the Texans this year, and that includes great fantasy quarterbacks like Matthew Stafford, who they held to 13.6 points, and Josh Allen, who they held to 8.1 points.

Running Backs

Fire RB Start of the Week: Quinshon Judkins (vs TEN)

It has been a while since Quinshon Judkins had a big fantasy performance, but for once, the Cleveland Browns should have a lead, or at the very least, be in a close game as they get to face the 1-11 Tennessee Titans. In the Browns‘ last win, Judkins had 25 carries and three rushing touchdowns for 26.4 fantasy points. The Tennessee Titans have allowed the ninth-most fantasy points per game and second-most rushing touchdowns to running backs in 2025.

Sleeper RB of the Week:  Devin Neal (at TB)

In his first NFL start, Saints’ rookie running back Devin Neal was disappointing with just 9.9 fantasy points on 17 touches in Week 13. However, his workload and play time should not be ignored. Neal was on the field 81.4% of the time and led the Saints’ backfield with 14 carries and 17 touches. Evan Hull was the only other Saints running back to see the field in Week 13, and he was given just five touches in the game. If Alvin Kamara misses another week, Neal is a viable low-end RB2/flex play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who have allowed the fourth most fantasy points per game to starting running backs in 2025.

Ice RB Start of the Week: Woody Marks (at KC)

Woody Marks has had at least 16 carries in each of the last three weeks, but he has been inefficient, hasn’t been scoring touchdowns and hasn’t been involved in the passing game. He has zero touchdowns and just one single target in each of the last three weeks while scoring fewer than eight fantasy points in each of those games despite having three good matchups in that span against the Tennessee Titans, Buffalo Bills and Indianapolis Colts. Now, he will face the Kansas City Chiefs, who have allowed the sixth-fewest fantasy points per game to the running back position in 2025.

Wide Receivers

Fire WR Start of the Week: Michael Wilson (vs. LAR)

Marvin Harrison Jr. has officially been ruled out, which means that Michael Wilson will move back into playing the X wide receiver role for the Arizona Cardinals in Week 14. Wilson was a target monster in Weeks 11 and 12 when Harrison was sidelined. During those two games, Wilson saw 33 targets and recorded 25 receptions, 303 receiving yards, and 55 fantasy points. The Los Angeles Rams are a much better run defense than pass defense, which could force Jacoby Brissett to have 40-plus passing attempts in this matchup.

Sleeper WR Start of the Week: Jakobi Meyers (vs. IND)

Jakobi Meyers has led the Jacksonville Jaguars in targets, receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns since being traded to the team prior to Week 10. He is averaging 13.7 fantasy points per game with the Jaguars, and has had back-to-back weeks with 15-plus points, including a season-high 21.3 points performance in Week 13. This is a solid matchup for Meyers as the Indianapolis Colts have allowed the seventh-most receiving yards and ninth-most points per game to the wide receiver position in 2025.

Ice WR Starts of the Week: A.J. Brown (at LAC)

A.J. Brown has been on fire, scoring 25-plus fantasy points in back-to-back games. However, his production could come crashing back down in Week 14. The Los Angeles Chargers have allowed the second-fewest fantasy points per game to wide receivers this season while only allowing six touchdowns to the position all year long. Overall, this matchup will be a tough one for the entire Eagles’ passing offense. Most of Jalen Hurts’ recent passing success has been deep down the field (20-plus air yards), but the Chargers have allowed the lowest opponent passer rating in the NFL on deep passes this season.

Tight Ends

Fire TE Start of the Week: Tyler Warren (at JAX)

Tyler Warren has had fewer than 10 fantasy points in three of the last five games, with only one big performance since Week 8, but he has the potential to finish as the overall TE1 in Week 14. The Jacksonville Jaguars have allowed the second-most receptions and fantasy points per game to tight ends this season, behind only the Cincinnati Bengals in both. In three of the last five weeks, Brock Bowers (43.3), Dalton Schultz (18.3) and Trey McBride (16.9) each had big fantasy performances against the Jaguars. Even last week, the Tennessee Titans’ tight end duo Gunnar Helm and Chig Okonkwo combined for 15.2 points against Jacksonville.

Sleeper TEs of the Week: Darren Waller (at NYJ)

Darren Waller returned from a four-game absence last week and had an underwhelming fantasy performance with just three targets, two receptions for 47 yards. However, he should play more in his second game back. Waller saw the field for only 46.7% of Miami’s offensive plays, down from close to 70% prior to his Week 7 pectoral injury. In his first three full games played with the Miami Dolphins, Waller was averaging 15.2 fantasy points per game while finding the end zone four times, including a matchup against the New York Jets, where he scored 17.7 fantasy points with two touchdowns.

Ice TE Start of the Week: Oronde Gadsden II (at PHI)

After a strong start to his rookie season, Oronde Gadsden has cooled off as of late, scoring six or fewer points in each of the last three games. I don’t expect him to bounce back this weekend against the Philadelphia Eagles, who have been the fourth-toughest defense against fantasy tight ends this season, allowing just 35 yards and 9.1 points per game to the position. No tight end has scored more than 13 points in their matchup against the Eagles in 2025. Gadsden’s ceiling is low in this matchup, and he has not been involved enough in the offense as of late to take that risk.

Fire and Ice Fantasy Football Plays

Here, I categorize every relevant fantasy player into five different buckets: (1) fire starts (best starts of the week); (2) thumbs up (good starts); (3) Risky players with upside (sleepers); (4) Ice starts (predicting bad performance from good player); (5) Stop (must sits).

Note: If a player/defense is not listed, I am not considering starting them in Week 14. I have also not included Cowboys/Lions players as they have already played on Thursday Night Football by the time this article is published.
