We are back with a new episode of “Before the Roar” to get ready for a huge “Thursday Night Football” game between the Detroit Lions and the Dallas Cowboys. After a tough loss to the Green Bay Packers on Thanksgiving, the Lions find themselves in a must-win situation in Week 14 in order to keep their playoff aspirations afloat.
Joining me (Morgan) to break things down ahead of the game is my good friend and host of the Pride of Detroit PODcast, Meko Scott. We kick things off by discussing the Cowboys’ recent surge after a tough start to the season. Coming off of two impressive wins over the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs in Weeks 12 and 13, the Cowboys also are in dire need of a win so that they can keep pace in what is a tight NFC playoff race.
We jump into the injury reports from either team, and how we think things will shake out by gametime. After discussing the Tuesday injury reports, we dive into how we think the Lions’ offense can put points on the board against an improved Cowboys’ defense. Their in-season acquisition of defensive tackle Quinnen Williams has certainly been a major boost, however, there are still ways to move the ball against them. After a quiet day on the ground against Green Bay, can they get things rolling again on Thursday night?
From there we jump into how we think the Lions can slow down the Cowboys’ high-flying passing attack, and what defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard may need to do in order to put his guys in the best positions to make plays. And at the end we make our selections for X-factors as well as give our score predictions.
