This season, we’re launching a weekly series at PFF that provides a behind-the-scenes look at our grading process. Each week, we’ll break down some of the highest-graded individual plays, complete with tweets to show you the action.
Here are a few standout plays from Week 13.
This Micah Parsons sack
The Green Bay Packers edge defender has delivered since arriving via trade before the season began, and the Thanksgiving win over the Lions provided more examples of that dominance. On this play, he won instantly at the line of scrimmage before taking down Jared Goff for the sack, earning a +1.5 PFF grade.
Jordan Love’s deep touchdown to Christian Watson
The Packers quarterback has been playing some of the best football of his career lately, and throws like this help explain why he is grading so well. The pass traveled 54 yards in the air and was placed perfectly for Watson to run under it and into the end zone. Both players earned +1.5 PFF grades on the play.
Kevin Byard’s interception
The Chicago Bears made a statement in taking down the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday in Week 13, and this interception by safety Kevin Byard was key to that win. What you don’t see from the TV copy is that Byard was the deep safety on the play. While Jalen Hurts was scrambling, Byard dropped all the way to the left hashmark on the Bears’ 43-yard line before spotting where Hurts wanted to go with the football and sprinting to make the catch on the right sideline, earning a +1.5 PFF grade in the process.
Kenny Clark’s quick win at the line of scrimmage
Impressive plays by pass-rushers are often overlooked because of the final result, and this is one of those cases. Interior defensive lineman Kenny Clark beat the right guard at the snap and generated pressure on quarterback Patrick Mahomes, but Mahomes escaped the pocket and found Rashee Rice in the end zone. That doesn’t make Clark’s pass-rush win any less impressive, and he earned a +1.5 PFF grade on the play.
