Former New York Giants backup quarterback and fan favorite Tommy DeVito is a member of the New England Patriots now. Heading into Monday’s game against his former team there is no doubt where his loyalties are.
“I loved my time there,” DeVito told MassLive. “When I was there, it was, ‘Go Giants’ but now it’s ‘Go Pats’ all the way. I hope we blow them out.”
After two seasons with the Giants, there was no room for him on a team with Jaxson Dart, Jameis Winston and Russell Wilson. He was claimed by the Patriots before the season began and has been their No. 3 quarterback all season behind Drake Maye and Joshua Dobbs.
DeVito admitted he will spill whatever secrets he can to help the Patriots win.
“I can help player breakdowns and give my two cents here and there,” DeVito said. “I’ll help in any way I can.”
Giants interim coach Mike Kafka has fond memories of working with DeVito.
“DeVito, in my opinion, is a starter in this league. He does a nice job. He has started in this league. So, of course, I see him that way,” Kafka said. “What a great person, what a great personality. Always brought energy to the room, brought energy to the group, brought energy to the offense. A guy that I’m proud of for where he began as a tryout type guy and stepping up and kind of being in the room and learning to be a pro. And then when he got his opportunity, he took advantage of it.”
