Dexter Lawrence, the New York Giants All-Pro defensive tackle, “has a chance” to play on Monday against the New England Patriots despite missing another practice on Friday due to his elbow injury. That was interim head coach Mike Kafka’s assessment.
Lawrence missed the last five games of the 2024 season due to a dislocated elbow. His current injury involves the same elbow. He played just 36 snaps, his second-lowest total of the season, Sunday against the Detroit Lions.
Lawrence could be one of several starting defenders out of the lineup Monday when Charlie Bullen debuts as the team’s interim defensive coordinator.
Micah McFadden has not played since Week 1 when he suffered a foot injury that required surgery. Edge Kayvon Thibodeaux missed practice on Friday with a shoulder injury and could be headed for a third straight missed game. Linebacker Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles, now starting with McFadden and Darius Muasau on IR, missed practice with neck and knee injuries. Paulson Adebo, who has missed five straight games with a knee injury, was limited in practice.
In a positive development, safety Tyler Nubin (neck) and cornerback/kickoff returner Deonte Banks were upgraded from limited to full participation.
