Yes, you read that correctly. It’s nothing extraordinary, but definitely a little “toot your own horn” type of moment. It helps explain the true meaning of Joe Burrow’s return to the Cincinnati Bengals.
Despite having a tumultuous season after his injury, losing nearly every game, Burrow is looking to come back and continue his win streak under center to take a piece of the pie with yet another franchise record, winning eight games in a row.
I’m sure a lot of you will look right past this because it’s not eight in a row this season, so you may not consider it legit, but for Burrow leading his Bengals, it’ll be eight. They won the last five games of the season, in addition to the first two games this season before getting injured.
Only two other quarterbacks have won eight in a row: Virgil Carter in the early ‘70s and our beloved “Red Rifle,” Andy Dalton.
A few other streaks have fallen just short, including future Hall of Famer Ken Anderson (seven) in 1973-74, Ken Anderson (six) in ‘75, and Boomer Esiason (six) in ‘88.
With very, very little hope left in most fans, that last little bit his hanging on a thread with the hope that Burrow can return in just the nick of time to restore some faith in fans, and maybe even a little talent, juice, and effort in the defense in order to claim that eighth win in a row.
From the sound of it, most fans aren’t too pleased with the decision to bring back Joe with a very low chance of postseason, but Burrow sees it a bit differently.
After defending his own opinion and perspective on playing no matter what, with 100% health, he also shared his experience with his humorous Thanksgiving memories.
Come Thursday, as we’re all enjoying our fourth plates of food, we’re going to see Burrow return to the field simply looking to enjoy some Thanksgiving football and maybe grab his eighth win in a row.
