In the first quarter of the Detroit Lions’ Thanksgiving Day game against the Green Bay Packers, All-Pro wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown suffered a lower-body injury after getting rolled up on during a Jahmyr Gibbs rushing play. St. Brown was down for a little bit before walking off under his own power with a limp. He would end up walking straight to the locker room with trainers.
The Lions declared him initially questionable to return with an ankle injury. In the second half, he was downgraded to out for the remainder of the game.
After the game, coach Dan Campbell said the he doesn’t view the injury to be long-term, but it could hold the star receiver out for a few games.
“I’ll know more tomorrow. I don’t feel like this is long, long-term. So that’s the good news, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be here for—could be a week or two, maybe, if we’re lucky,” Campbell said.

St. Brown has obviously been one of the most important players on the Lions’ offense this year, leading the team with 75 catches for 884 yards and nine touchdowns through 11 games. With the Lions already down Kalif Raymond to injury, that has left them with just a few healthy wide receivers active for the game: Jameson Williams, Tom Kennedy, and a pair of rookies: Isaac TeSlaa and Dominic Lovett.
Against the Packers, Detroit’s receivers actually stepped up nicely. Williams finished with seven catches for 144 yards and a touchdown. Kennedy finished with four for 36, including a couple of key catches. TeSlaa hauled in two for 35, including an 18-yard touchdown.
Those players will have to keep their game up, as the Lions are now just 7-5 and will likely be without St. Brown for the next game or two.
