The Minnesota Vikings will hit the road to take on the Seattle Seahawks. The two teams have a long history of players who have worn both jerseys. This year, Vikings fans will enjoy seeing Sam Darnold line up against the team that helped revitalize his career. Unfortnately, he likely won’t be playing against his replacement J.J. McCarthy. With Thanksgiving around the corner and the holidays approaching, I wanted to publish this post earlier than the usual Friday.
Series Record: 7-13
Road Record: 3-9
Streak: W2
- The Vikings have won the last two meetings against Seattle, scoring three passing touchdowns and committing no turnovers.
- Dallas Turner recorded his first career interception in last year’s matchup. He and Ivan Pace Jr. are the only two Vikings rookies to record an interception in the past 20 seasons.
- The Seahawks are 7th in the league in offensive yards per game (364.6). They are 4th in the league in passing yards per game (248.5).
- The Vikingsare 28th in the league in offensive yards per game (282.6). They are also 28th in the league in passing yards per game (180.2).
- Jaxon Smith-Njigba has been the league’s top receiver this season, already amassing 1,313 yards and 7 touchdowns.
Max Brosmer is making his first NFL start. I’m not expecting much out of this game for the Vikings. The team is basically eliminated from playoff contention already. If Brosmer looks like a competent QB, it’ll be hard to justify marching J.J. back out there next week. Expecting a rookie quarterback to excel in their first year usually sets you up for disappointment. On the other side of the ball, the Vikings defense has played well. The sacks and turnovers aren’t there in the numbers from prior years, but if the offense doesn’t give the ball away in their own territory, the opposing teams are struggling to put up points. They will be tested this week against one of the league’s strongest offenses and best passing duos: JSN and Darnold. I’d like to think Brosmer can do big things, but I don’t see that being likely.
Game Prediction: Seahawks 30 – Vikings 12
