Eagles-Bears preview: Five things to watch – PhillyVoice

1) Maybe it’s time for Tank? The Eagles’ historic rushing attack of 2024 has been non-existent for most of 2025. The offensive line hasn’t played as well as we’ve been accustomed to, the offensive staff lacks creativity, and we may not see the quarterback get involved heavily in the run game until the games really start to matter in the playoffs. But what is also probably true is that Saquon Barkley does not have the same explosiveness that he did in 2024. We can all see that, right? And Barkley is also on the injury report this week with a groin injury. Earlier this season, the Eagles traded a couple of draft picks for Tank Bigsby, who busted as a kick returner, but who has shown some legitimate juice when he has gotten opportunities in the regular offense. During his time with the Eagles this season, Bigsby had 18 carries for 164 yards (9.1 yards per carry). I cut up video of those carries. Bigsby has fresh legs. Barkley does not, coming of a season in which he had 482 touches. Bigsby is playing better right now, and Barkley could use some rest. It’s also worth noting that there should be opportunity in the run game against this Bears defense, which is allowing 138.1 rushing yards per game (28th in the NFL), and will be thin at linebacker. […] There’s a chance the Bears could be starting their LB4 (D’Marco Jackson) and LB6 (Amen Ogbongbemiga) in this game. The Eagles must find a way to run the ball against this defense.

Fran’s film review: What’s up with Saquon Barkley and the Eagles’ putrid rushing attack – PHLY

Teams are loading the box against Saquon at a higher rate, and the blocking just simply has not been as good. When you pair that with the unwillingness to involve the quarterback in the run game to level out the playing field, numbers-wise, Barkley has had a tough go of things. The blocking inside has not been as good (0.8 yards before contact per carry difference from last year to this year), which has caused him to bounce things a bit more often (leading to the high Rushing Efficiency number). As far as yards before and after contact … I have always viewed Barkley as a ‘velocity’ runner. He is similar to Derrick Henry in that way. If you get to him early, before he builds momentum, you really limit his effectiveness. If he’s not at top speed he struggles to break tackles. If he gets rolling, that’s when he’s tough to bring down. Without as much room to run this year, we’ve seen those numbers go down. Barkley is still forcing missed tackles at a high rate! It’s just that he is facing that contact before or at the line of scrimmage, before he gets to top speed. The lower baseline lowers the ceiling. A lot of these numbers were due to regress, regardless. Barkley was hitting on an explosive runs at a rate that had never been seen before. The problem is that they regressed past the mean, as the Eagles have turned from a phenomenal rushing team into a below average rushing team. That has had a huge impact on the offense as a whole. Can they turn it around for the stretch run? Time will tell.

Eagles issue estimated injury report ahead of Bears game – BGN

The Eagles listed three players under FULL PARTICIPATION: Adoree’ Jackson, Willie Lampkin, and Myles Hinton. Jackson is listed with “gameday concussion protocol evaluation” (first time I’ve seen that one) as opposed to “concussion.” It was deemed that Jackson did NOT suffer a concussion in the Eagles’ Week 12 loss despite being evaluated for one. Jackson being available to start on the outside allows the Eagles to keep Cooper DeJean at nickel cornerback instead of moving him to the outside and playing Michael Carter II in the slot. So, that’s good news for the secondary outlook.

Bears vs. Eagles Injury Report: Jaylon Johnson, Kyler Gordon Full Participants – Windy City Gridiron

OL Theo Benedet (quad), DB Kyler Gordon (calf), RB Travis Homer (hamstring/knee), DB Jaylon Johnson (groin), and RB Kyle Monangai (knee) were all estimated to be full participants. That is encouraging to see as Bears fans continue to hold out hope that both Gordon and Johnson can make a return for the Eagles game, giving the defense a much-needed boost.

Sydney Brown feels ready for his starting opportunity | Bears vs. Eagles Daily Updates – PE.com

7:18 PM: Safety Sydney Brown will enter a starting role with rookie Andrew Mukuba expected to miss some time. Mukuba has been a starter in Philadelphia’s secondary this season and had come on in recent weeks, with Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio noting his lack of mistakes. Now, it’s time for Brown, a third-year player, to step into the action. “I’m ready,” he said on Tuesday. “I feel like I’ve been ready since [Training] Camp. I think I’ve been prepared since I got here. I’ve had a couple setbacks in the past. It’s just been something to work back from, but I think I’ve been ready to go since I came here.” Brown has played 36 games since getting drafted in the third round in 2023, making seven starts and nabbing two interceptions, including a 99-yard pick-six as a rookie. He plays a physical brand of football and can deliver some big-time hits. Brown will start alongside Reed Blankenship, someone he has spent a lot of time around, something he thinks will help make the transition smooth.

After a two-year wait, can Sydney Brown take advantage of his opportunity? – NBCSP

“As long as the team’s winning, I’m just going to own my role for what it is,” Brown said at his locker Tuesday. “I mean, what’s best for the team? That’s how I look at it. And are we winning football games? That’s all I care about. And that’s all you can ask for, especially in this profession. “It’s about winning football games. That’s what it is, and I don’t knock on that. And I think at the end of the day, you might not agree with some of the decisions made, but it’s obviously made for the best of the team. And that’s all that matters.” Brown, a 3rd-round pick in 2023 out of Illinois, started six games as a rookie in 2023 – mainly in the slot – and had a 99-yard pick-6 off Kyler Murray in the late-season loss to the Cards. But he only had 87 snaps in meaningful games last year and in the first 10 games this year, playing C.J. Gardner Johnson last year and Mukuba so far this year. He had a good summer but lost a training camp battle with Mukuba, although it was close. So he’s been waiting his turn a long time. “It’s going to be amazing,” he said. “That’s what I came here to do. And just kind of embracing the opportunity for what it is.”

NFL Week 13 latest buzz, questions, news and fantasy tips – ESPN

Who is the league’s most important player the next six weeks? Graziano: I’ll say Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts. Philadelphia’s offense is a mess right now, having the highest percentage of three-and-out drives in the NFL. The Eagles aren’t getting the explosive Saquon Barkley plays in the run game the way they did last season, and they haven’t shown an eagerness to lean on the passing game. Some reports are bubbling up about discontent in the locker room and concerns about whether Hurts’ limitations have something to do with the team’s seeming unwillingness to change or evolve the offense. There’s always noise around the Eagles, but right now there are legitimate questions about whether this season is going to be a repeat of 2023, when they started 10-1 and fell off down the stretch, or whether there’s still a chance for a repeat of last season’s Super Bowl run. Hurts has the ability and experience he needs to quell these concerns with a big December.

NFL offensive line rankings ahead of Week 13 – PFF

8) Philadelphia Eagles (Down 3). Philadelphia’s offensive line struggled to contain the Cowboys‘ pass rush, allowing 15 pressures — but just one sack — across 43 pass plays. The group’s 81.4 PFF pass-blocking efficiency rating ranked 20th this week. Although center Cam Jurgens was able to suit up following his injury, he struggled in pass protection against the Cowboys. He surrendered three pressures and earned a team-low 20.3 PFF pass-blocking grade.

NFL playoff picture: Postseason probabilities entering Week 13 of the 2025 season – NFL.com

Speaking of the Eagles … they flirted with disaster over the past couple of weeks, and on Sunday, calamity finally caught up with Nick Sirianni’s club. Although the loss at Dallas didn’t put a dent in Philly’s overall postseason probability, it did slash the team’s odds of capturing a playoff bye (from 41% to 21%). It also raised the stakes on an already massive matchup with the third-seeded Bears, who, at 59 percent, are still less likely than both Green Bay (No. 6, 78%) and Detroit (No. 8, 75%) to even secure a playoff berth. A Bears win at Philadelphia on Friday would go a long way toward quieting the chatter about the quality of competition Chicago has faced thus far.

Eagles defensive tackle Byron Young’s father died suddenly in March. He’s found a way to keep Kenny Young close. – Inquirer

When Byron Young’s father died earlier this year, he asked his mother for his dad’s key chain.

It’s not your normal key chain. It’s made from the end of a snapped belt, the key ring looping into one of the belt’s holes. There’s a date carved into the brown leather on one side. It’s faint now, but Young said he thinks it reads “7-1-9” for July 1, 2009. “I think the date that was on the belt was the date that he cut the belt and put it on his key chain,” Young said. “I want to say the belt was broken or something, and he just put it on there. I don’t think there was any deeper meaning.” But the chain has great significance to Young, the Eagles’ 6-foot-3, 292-pound defensive tackle. When he first linked it to his keys, he marked the other side of the belt with the date “4-7-25,” 16 years after his father’s original carving and just a week after Kenny Young, 62, suffered a fatal heart attack.

2025 Commanders’ Tank Watch – Bye Week Edition – Hogs Haven

he Commanders currently occupy the 7th position in the draft order, due to their win-loss record and strength of schedule (SOS) tiebreaker. It is still early in the process, and a lot can change in both components of the draft order formula as the season unfolds. The Commanders are currently one of four teams with 3-8 records. Cleveland is ahead of them in the draft order due to weaker SOS. The Commanders enjoy a modest SOS advantage over the Bengals and a larger one over the Cardinals. These teams are likely to be jostling with the Commanders for draft position for the rest of the season. Ahead of the 3-8 group are four teams with two wins. In order for the Commanders to improve their draft position, they need these teams or the Browns to win games. If the Commanders can avoid winning any more games themselves, a single win by the Browns, Raiders, Jets or Giants will move them up the draft order. Based on current SOS, the Saints would need to win two games to fall behind the Commanders. The Tennessee Titans have a commanding lead as the sole one-win team. They would need to win two of six remaining games to fall behind the Commanders, which is probably not worth even thinking about at this point.

Cowboys injuries: Tyler Guyton only player to miss practice on Tuesday – Blogging The Boys

Tyler Guyton (ankle) was a DNP again on Tuesday. It looks less likely that he will be able to play Thanksgiving. Osa Odighizuwa (elbow), George Pickens (knee/calf), KaVontae Turpin (shoulder/illness), were back on a limited basis today after sitting out yesterday. Donovan Wilson (neck) was again limited today. Also, DaRon Bland (wrist) and Tyler Smith (knee) were a full go once again.

Giants-Patriots NFL Week 13 betting odds: New York a heavy MNF underdog – Big Blue View

The New York Giants, to no one’s surprise, are more than a touchdown underdog to the New England Patriots for their NFL Week 13 Monday Night Football game in Foxboro, Mass. FanDuel Sportsbook currently has the Giants as 7.5-point underdogs, +340 on the Moneyline, with the Over/Under set at 46.5 points. The Giants are 2-10, have lost six straight games, have lost 12 consecutive road games dating back to last season, have an interim head coach entering his third game, an interim defensive coordinator in his first week, and as of this writing quarterback Jaxson Dart has yet to clear the NFL’s concussion protocol.
