We have made it through the first quarter of play at Lambeau Field, and your Minnesota Vikings trail the Green Bay Packers by a score of 7-3.
The Vikings got the football first, as the Packers won the coin toss and deferred to the second half. J.J. McCarthy led the offense onto the field, and for the first time this season he lined up behind the starting offensive line the Vikings had envisioned on Day 1. Aaron Jones got the first two touches of the game, carrying it twice for 16 yards, and McCarthy then found Justin Jefferson for a 15-yard gain into Green Bay territory. After that, we got three straight incompletions from McCarthy and on came Will Reichard. He connected from 52 yards out and the Vikings were out to a quick 3-0 lead.
The Packers immediately responded on their first drive, as they went down the field with just about no resistance from the Minnesota defense. A pass interference call on Josh Metellus put the Packers on the edge of the red zone, and they wrapped things up with a 1-yard touchdown run from Emmanuel Wilson to take a 7-3 lead.
Minnesota had to punt the ball away on its next drive, and Ryan Wright got a good one away, having the ball bounce out of bounds at the Green Bay 2-yard line. The Packers picked up a couple of first downs on their possession, but the drive ended with a Dallas Turner sack of Jordan Love and the Vikings got the ball back at their own 23-yard line.
As we move on to the second quarter of play, the Vikings are looking at 1st-and-10 from their own 35-yard line.
The first fifteen minutes are in the books at Lambeau Field, and the Vikings are trailing the Packers by a score of 7-3. Come on in and join us for the second quarter of play!
