The Cincinnati Bengals have lost seven of their last games. With a 9-2 New England Patriots team up next without star receiver Ja’Marr Chase, they could use some good news on the injury front.
Per Wednesday’s injury report, quarterback Joe Burrow (toe) was a full participant in practice for the first time since suffering a Grade 3 turf toe injury in Week 2. Burrow being a full participant means he did participate in 11-on-11 work, something Zac Taylor said could be coming.
Could Burrow actually play this week? Taylor was non-committal when asked on Wednesday about who the starting quarterback would be this week.
Quarterback Joe Flacco (shoulder) was limited, as he continues to manage his AC Joint sprain. Flacco did not throw at Wednesday’s practice but is expected to resume throwing on Thursday.
After Taylor told reporters that defensive end Trey Hendrickson (hip/pelvis) would be doubtful for Sunday’s contest, Hendrickson was again a nonparticipant.
Tight end Mike Gesicki (pectoral) and safety Daijahn Anthony (hamstring) were both cleared to return to practice today and were full participants. Neither player has been activated from injured reserve yet, so they likely won’t play Sunday unless the staff feels they are game-ready.
Starting guard Jalen Rivers (knee/ankle) missed practice on Wednesday. If he is unable to suit up on Sunday, Lucas Patrick will likely start in his place.
Defensive end Cameron Sample (oblique) also missed practice, so the Bengals’ pass rush is once again in jeopardy of being thin this coming week.
Samaje Perine (ankle) and Cam Taylor-Britt (foot) were both out. Taylor-Britt is likely lost for the season, but Perine should return at some point.
For New England, wide receiver Kayshon Boutte (hamstring) and running back Rhamondre Stevenson (toe) returned to practice after missing multiple weeks
