Early in the Philadelphia Eagles’ Week 11 game against the Detroit Lions, All-Pro right tackle Lane Johnson slowly made his way to the locker room with a foot injury. On Monday, it was reported that Johnson suffered a Lisfranc injury and could miss 4-6 weeks — while that wouldn’t make the injury season-ending, it would likely land him on injured reserve through most of the back-half of the regular season.
Months ago the Eagles made a move to bring back veteran swing tackle Fred Johnson, and it’s certainly paying off. He’s been able to take the field in place of Lane several times throughout the season, and will now step into a bigger role with Lane sidelined. Fred has done as well as possible for someone stepping into the shoes of one of the best to ever play the position.
Hopefully Lane is able to make a full recovery and come out of this feeling better than he has all season — just in time for an Eagles playoff run.
