It’s widely expected that the Las Vegas Raiders’ rookie guard Caleb Rogers is set to make his regular-season debut in Week 11 on Monday Night Football against the Dallas Cowboys.
The Raiders’ starting guards Dylan Parham and Jackson Powers-Johnson are banged up, and Powers-Johnson could be out for the rest of the season after getting placed on injured reserve. Additionally, Rogers said earlier this week that he’s going to start on Monday night.
That news should make Raider Nation happy, as a large portion of the fanbase has, understandably, grown frustrated with the fact that the third-round pick has been inactive for eight out of the team’s nine games and hasn’t recorded a snap so far this season. Adding to the irritation, Las Vegas’ offensive line has struggled for the majority of the campaign, especially on the interior.
But the time is finally here for Rogers to step onto the field and get involved in the action. However, facing the likes of new Cowboys defensive tackle Quinnen Williams isn’t exactly easing the rookie into his first real NFL action. Williams is an elite run-defender and one of the premier interior defenders in the entire league. The three-time Pro Bowler’s pass-rush numbers might be down this year, but he’s racked up 40 career sacks in 6.5 seasons.
Dallas also has a couple of quality defensive tackles in Kenny Clark and Osa Odighizuwa, who will challenge Rogers. So, it will be worth it to keep tabs on the No. 98 overall pick’s performance on Monday night, as that is one of the biggest storylines heading into the game.
