For the first time all season, I’m predicting the Philadelphia Eagles to lose a football game.
Bold to bet against a team that simply never loses.
But I just have serious reservations about this offense, especially in a windy environment. The rushing attack simply cannot be counted on right now. Even less so against a very staunch Detroit Lions run defense.
Speaking of defense, I do think it could be another big game for Vic Fangio’s unit. The re-energized Eagles’ defensive line could make life difficult for Jared Goff, who isn’t exactly known to thrive in cold conditions.
But the Eagles have to score points on offense at some point and I don’t really know if they can. Maybe I’m underestimating the Lions’ defensive losses. They’re very thin in the secondary. That much previously didn’t matter in a win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, however.
Fortune favors the bold and Nick Sirianni’s cowardice could prove costly against Dan Campbell, who is fearless. The Lions are clearly entering this game with something to prove. Aidan Hutchinson called it a “must win.” They’re going to be the more motivated team on Sunday night whereas the Eagles could struggle coming off a short week.
