Eagles News: A.J. Brown talks about his frustration

It is time to remove the ‘misunderstood’ label from A.J. Brown – The Athletic

“We play Detroit on Sunday night,” Brown said. “They play a lot of man. Pretty sure they’re gonna cloud. That’s just what comes with it. You even look back at that Denver game, playing against the best corner in the game. They started going one-on-one. I started winning. The end of the game — cloud. That’s just what it’s gonna be for me. I think it’s fair for me to even say, like, I feel like we do need to do a better job of creating for me, trying to help put me in a situation to help, to contribute.” Brown expressed optimism that Sirianni and first-time offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo would figure the schematic problems out. “We always go into it with a great game plan, trying to do certain things,” Brown said. “And I understand how the game goes. Sometimes defenses take it away.” And the danger of their offense continuing to stagnate? It is evident that the Eagles offense can’t count on leaning on its defense all season. “We can’t just keep slapping the Band-Aid over the defense doing their job and getting us out of trouble,” Brown said. “At what point are we gonna pick up our slack as an offense — that we’re so great, you know? And that’s where I’m getting at. It’s not about we’re not winning or I don’t care about winning, all I care about is stats. No, it’s been —week after week sometimes — we’re not contributing, we’re not doing our job on offense. So you can’t just keep slapping a Band-Aid over that and you expect to win later in the year and you think you’re gonna go to it at the end of the year. It’s not gonna f—ing happen. It’s not gonna happen. It’s not gonna happen. Last year, what it was, thank you for the ring, but it’s a new season. They adapted, we have to adapt, and we have to continue to get better and try to find new ways.”

Eagles-Packers Film Review: One of the least inspiring offensive efforts of the season – BGN

This was a disappointing offensive performance, especially coming off a bye week. This was a conservative, predictable outing that lacked any rhythm, aggression, and creativity. The passing attack started with some promise but faded into the same frustrating patterns that have haunted this team all year. I found this a tough watch.

NFC East Mixtape Vol. 176: A Repeat Champion Feels Inevitable Now – BGN YouTube

We are now over halfway through the 2025 NFL season and it looks pretty likely that the NFC East is going to do something it hasn’t in forever in that a repeat champion feels inevitable. The Philadelphia Eagles are 7-2 with the Dallas Cowboys as the next-closest team at 3-5-1. While Philly is likely playoff bound… could Dallas scratch and claw their way there as a potential Wild Card? Also… the New York Giants fired Brian Daboll! RJ Ochoa and Brandon Gowton discuss it all on the latest NFC East Mixtape.

Eagles-Lions preview: Five things to watch – PhillyVoice

4) The Eagles’ receivers vs. the Lions’ banged-up secondary. The Lions could be missing three starters in their secondary on Sunday night — CB D.J. Reed, CB Terrion Arnold, and S Kerby Joseph. Reed signed a three-year deal worth $48 million this offseason as a free agent. He suffered a hamstring injury against the Browns Week 4, and was placed on IR. He has 16 tackles, 1 INT, and 4 PBUs in 4 games this season. The Lions opened up Reed’s 21-day practice window this week, but he feels unlikely to play. We’ll see. Arnold has a concussion and didn’t practice on Wednesday. When healthy, Arnold is one of the grabbiest corners in the NFL. He had 10 penalties last season, and he has 6 already in 2025. And finally, Joseph last played in a game Week 6 against the Chiefs, when he injured his knee. The Lions didn’t put him on IR, so they thought he could be back within four games, but he did not practice on Wednesday. His knee could be healing a little more slowly than expected. Joseph was a ball hawk last year, as he led the NFL with 9 INTs. The first guy up on the outside would be Amik Robertson, and then Rock Ya-Sin. Arthur Maulet would likely start in the slot. Robertson is 5’8, 183, and Maulet is 5’10, 190. The Eagles could have some contested catch advantages over those guys if they have to play a lot of snaps. The Eagles had their passing game going against the Vikings and Giants before the bye, but they sputtered in Green Bay on Monday night. The Lions are allowing just 94.3 rushing yards per game, so the Eagles may have to throw it to win. That’s where they’ll have their matchup advantages, you know, if they can all get along and the Eagles’ staff can call a game that makes sense.

The Squeaky Wheel – Iggles Blitz

Part of what makes Brown great is that he’s ultra-competitive. He wants the ball on every play. He wants to show what he can do. He wants to help the team win. That’s great, but you do have to fit that into a team paradigm. It must drive him nuts to see Puka Nacua and Jaxson Smith-Njigba putting up insane numbers. Brown would love that. He would love to be in an offense that fed him the ball by design. He was in a run-heavy offense in Tennessee. He’s in a run-centric offense in Philly and has to share the ball with other stars. DeVonta Smith gets frustrated, but keeps his emotions under control.

NFL Week 11 Preview: Schedule, storylines, matchups to watch and betting spreads – PFF

Matchup to watch: Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown vs. Eagles CB Cooper DeJean. One of the best receivers in the NFL vs. one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL; they don’t come much better than this. Lions star Amon-Ra St. Brown (86.2 grade; 6th) has been fantastic in 2025, catching 64 passes (3rd) for 693 yards (5th) and eight touchdowns (2nd). The Lions’ passing game relies on St. Brown, who has 37 catches for first downs in 2025. Yet, St. Brown will face stiff opposition from Eagles corner Cooper DeJean (74.6 grade; 8th) in the slot. DeJean is first in the NFL in slot snaps per reception (12.1) and has five pass breakups on the season.

How Moro Ojomo knew exactly what Packers were doing on crucial play – NBCSP

It wasn’t lifting or studying film or practicing that allowed Ojomo to call out the Packers’ play. It was good old-fashioned thinking. “They had run a similar play earlier in the game on the touchdown drive that they had,” Ojomo said. “The quarterback came up, he said a word, they ran the play. “And then the same thing happened on the 4th-and-1. It was like déjà vu. It was a word. It was like a one-word play. And they did that exact thing. So I was like, ‘Hey guys, this is what’s coming.’ So I just wanted to let everybody know that he literally just had this play.” Josh Jacobs appeared to run to the right instead of the left as a response to the Eagles knowing the play. But with the blocking still going to the left, the play was a disaster, and Jaelan Phillips and Jalen Carter blew it up for a four-yard loss. Jacobs also fumbled on the play, although that didn’t matter since it was fourth down. “He knew what was coming,” Ojomo said of Carter. “It allows him to play faster.” Jacobs told reporters after the game that he heard Ojomo calling out the play and knew it was doomed from the start. “The clock was going down, we kind of snapped it fast — faster than we wanted to — and they made a play,” he said.

Dan Campbell on keeping tush push legal: I’m a purist, it’s on everybody else to stop it – PFT

Campbell said today that he feels strongly that physical plays should remain in the game of football, and as his team prepares to face the Eagles on Sunday, stopping the tush push is a job for the Lions’ defense, not for the league. “I’m a purist,” Campbell said. “You take something else out of the game, then we’re taking the next thing out of the game, then we take another thing out of the game, and pretty soon we don’t have pads anymore. Then pretty soon it’s, we’re only playing 30 minutes. I don’t want to take it out of the game. It’s something a team’s got a niche, they’ve found something, they’re good at it, and it’s for everybody else to stop. It’s unique and it’s physical and more than anything I just don’t want to take anything else out of the game. I just want to leave the game alone. That’s me.”

Inside DeVonta Smith’s process – PE.com

If you take a look at DeVonta Smith’s résumé, get ready to read for a long, long time. At nearly 27 years old, Smith is already one of the most decorated players in the history of football. He started his college career by catching a walk-off touchdown in the National Championship game as a true freshman. He then went on to win another title at Alabama and became the first wide receiver to win the Heisman Trophy in nearly 30 years. The Eagles selected Smith, who broke the Eagles’ rookie receiving record, in the top 10 and he helped Philadelphia win the Super Bowl by catching an iconic touchdown known as “The Dagger.” Simply put, Smith doesn’t have much to prove in the football world. He also doesn’t need anything externally to push him to be his best. “I don’t have a clear-cut answer for you, honestly,” Smith said about what motivates him. “I just feel like right now, I never short myself. Do I have a true motivational thing that’s making me go out there? No, not really. [My] family is taken care of, everybody is good. I just never short myself. When I’m on the field, I’m always giving my everything because I never short myself for these guys that’s in here with me.”

Lions-Eagles preview: A battle for NFC supremacy – ESPN

Eagles: Third-down offense. They rank 27th with a conversion rate of 42.4% and have gone three-and-out on 41% of their drives, which ranks 28th. That’s confounding given all the playmakers they have on that side of the ball, including running back Saquon Barkley, and wideouts DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown. Offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo has often leaned conservative on third-and-long. That’s helped limit the risk but has also capped their ability to extend drives.

Lions Week 11 preview: Breaking down Eagles’ offensive, defensive schemes – Pride Of Detroit

The Detroit Lions (6-3) and Philadelphia Eagles (7-2) will square off in a Week 11 battle between two of the best teams in the NFC. In a matchup many were expecting to see in the NFC Championship game last season, this game once again has the potential for major playoff implications. While both teams are loaded with talent, each has experienced some attrition on their coaching staff. Three of the four coordinators on these teams last season departed for head coaching positions in the offseason, as the Lions lost coordinators Ben Johnson (Bears) and Aaron Glenn (Jets), while the Eagles lost Kellen Moore (Saints). Let’s take a closer look at the Eagles coaching staff, the scheme they run, and some scouting notes from previously viewed games.

What To Expect With Dan Quinn Taking Over Commanders’ Defense – Hogs Haven

With the news of Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn taking over defensive playcalling duties from Joe Whitt Jr., many around the league are now asking if this move is coming too late in the year for a team with such lofty expectations heading into this season. At 3-7, Washington has now lost four consecutive games by a margin of at least 21 points, tying a record going back to the 2002 Arizona Cardinals. While Quinn remained adamant earlier this season about his involvement in the defense, the playcalling on game days was ultimately Joe Whitt’s job up until Quinn made his decision following the loss to Detroit. So with Quinn now calling plays, what changes for a defense that’s hardly looked like an NFL-caliber unit the past month?

Former Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy betting favorite to be next Giants coach – Blogging The Boys

The Dallas Cowboys could be seeing a former face in the near future. Earlier this week the New York Giants dismissed Brian Daboll as their head coach, he literally never won a game against the Cowboys, and they are now the second team in the NFL who will officially be looking for a new skipper come 2026 (Tennessee Titans). Early odds are out for who will be the next coach to lead the Giants, and the betting favorite is man who preceded Brian Schottenheimer as the Cowboys head coach in Mike McCarthy. Wouldn’t that be something?

Giants lose practice squad wide receiver to Denver Broncos – Big Blue View

Lil’Jordan Humphrey, who was elevated from the New York Giants practice squad for three games earlier this season, has been signed by the Denver Broncos to their 53-man roster. In the three games Humphrey played for the Giants he caught four passes for 55 yards. All of those catches, and eight of his 10 targets, came in the first game he played. That was the Giants’ Week 6 upset victory over the Philadelphia Eagles.

What’s next for Brian Daboll after getting fired by New York Giants? – SB Nation

Brian Daboll’s future as a college football head coach. Don’t discount the possibility of Daboll jumping to college to become a head coach. Daboll has been an NFL coach since since 2000 except 2017 when he was Nick Saban’s offensive coordinator at Alabama. The college head coaching market will be popping in the next month with the serious turnover in the ranks tied to NIL. A big program could come after Daboll in the coming weeks. Penn State is already rumored to be targeting him, and a huge donor for the Nittany Lions is alumnus Terry Pegula, Daboll’s former boss with the Buffalo Bills.
