Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs has been named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week after his big game against the Washington Commanders. On Sunday, Gibbs took 15 carries for 142 yards (9.5 per carry), added three catches for 30 years, and he found the end zone three separate times that afternoon.
Per the Lions’ official PR team, Gibbs is just the second Lions running back to win the award multiple times, joining Hall of Famer Barry Sanders. The only other time Gibbs has won the award was for his Week 18 performance against the Minnesota Vikings last year, in which he scored four touchdowns in the NFC North-deciding game.
This is just the second time a Lions player has been named Player of the Week for the 2025 season. In Week 2, quarterback Jared Goff was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his 335-yard, five-touchdown performance against the Chicago Bears.
For the season, Gibbs currently ranks eighth in rushing yards (693), t-fourth in yards per carry (5.4), and t-third in rushing touchdowns (eight).
