The Philadelphia Eagles officially announced two roster moves on Wednesday morning. Here’s an overview:
- CB Jakorian Bennett was activated from injured reserve.
- CB Jaire Alexander was placed on the reserve/retired list.
Let’s sort through this news on a player-by-player basis.
JAKORIAN BENNETT
Bennett previously suffered a pectoral injury that landed him on injured reserve after the Eagles’ Week 3 win. The team then opened his 21-day practice window to return from IR on October 22. Now he’s back on the active roster.
Bennett’s role remains to be seen. Adoree’ Jackson has mostly been the Eagles’ starting cornerback when healthy … but he got banged up late in Week 10. If Jackson can’t play, Bennett might be ahead of Kelee Ringo on the depth chart. We’ll see.
JAIRE ALEXANDER
News of Alexander stepping away from football was first reported on Tuesday evening.
Not ideal that the Eagles gave up some form of draft compensation (albeit not much, a 2026 sixth-round pick in exchange for Alexander and a 2027 seventh-round pick) for a player who apparently won’t even play a single snap for them.
I guess it’s possible Alexander decides to unretire at some point. In the meantime, he’s not an option for the Eagles.
