Black Monday came early for the New York Giants as they fired fourth-year head coach Brian Daboll less than 24 hours after losing to the Chicago Bears. That loss drops the Giants to 2-8 on the season, the third time in three years they’ve hit that mark.
The losing — this year and the previous two — combined with the injury to rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart led to Daboll’s dismissal. The Giants now turn to offensive coordinator Mike Kafka to take over as interim head coach as they try to make their way through the end of the 2025 season.
It was a shocking decision to say the least. It wasn’t so much that Daboll was fired that was shocking, but rather that it happened in November rather than January. The sudden and surprising news set social media ablaze, as Daboll joined Ben McAdoo on the franchise’s short list of in-season firings.
“Won with Josh Allen” not good enough.
GM Joe Schoen is staying, for now.

“Sooo, Bill Belichick.”
Former BBV writer has his say.
Did Daboll exceed his ceiling?
