This past week, I asked the following question:
So, with the firing or “mutual separation” from general manager Chris Grier now in the past, what else do you want or need to see this team do going forward? What needs to be done now, at the end of the season, in the upcoming draft, and even beyond that, going forward?
Below are some of your thougths and answers-
I Hate Sports has a mock draft for you.
Made zero trades:
4 – Edge – Rueben Bain – Miami (Chubb will be gone, Bain, Chop, Grant are the future)
37 – LB – Anthony Hill Jr. – Texas (STUD)
68 – RT – Xavier Chaplin – Auburn (6’7” 350lbs, Concrete pillars at Tackle with PP@LT)
75 – WR – Elijah Sarratt – Indiana (6’2”) (Mike Evans esk)
95 – CB – Will Lee III – Texas A&M (6’1” Press Corner)
105 – S – Amare Ferrell – Indiana (6’2” STUD)
144 – TE – Eli Stowers – Vanderbilt (Darren Waller esk)
218 – C/RG – Logan Jones – Iowa (dude is a MONSTER, replaces Brewer in 2 years)
Francesco ITA has some ideas, but definitely wants some quality CBs.
CB is much more a position of need and i see impossible that we dont draft a QB in the first 3 rounds, at least.
I am ok with picking an edge with the first and i think we can save the pick for a RT if Jackson i 100% healed.
so, just regarding positions, but of course one has to see talent too
Edge-CB-QB-LB-S-G-WR-TE (but of course if one believes in a QB, he can pick him with the first too)
SlayerNation1 is pretty sure a fired HC is enjoying his former employer’s struggles.
Does anyone have more of a wry smile than Flo in light of the events in 2025?
Between Tua’s downfall, Mike’s free fall and then Grier’s inglorious departure, Flo must feel like He was done an enormous favor being fired.
Flo DVR of last week’s game immediately went to the Favorites Folder. Just press play anytime He needs elevate His mood.
UpInPensacola believes that McDaniel deserves another couple of seasons.
Grier needed to go given all his years with the team.
McDaniel needs to stay. Needs at least two years under a new GM in order to assess his success in a new management system.
What more? I guess wait it out to see if the next generation of Ross’ have a different level of involvement with the team. Obviously, the team is not for sale.
With my years fading away now, I’m hoping to see the Dolphins in one more Superbowl win before I die. Wish Stephen Ross felt the same.
Spok507 would like to see what we have in the other signal callers.
I may be in the minority (I’m getting used to it), but I do think firing Grier and keeping McDaniel was the way to start this. McDaniel may or may not be a good HC, but I think he’s hobbled with a QB who just can’t execute or think on his own enough to make the decisions that need to be made in the thick of things. So whether or not we’re seeing what the coach is really attempting to do on the field is up for debate. I think we need to see what can happen with someone else under center before we can actually decide whether or not the play calling is the problem or if the actual execution is the problem. I have my suspicions. So for now, I’m content to keep McDaniel. Wish he would have the balls to bench Tua and see if either Wilson or — more likely — Ewers can steer the ship with a bit more energy and efficiency. At least there would be opportunities for scrambles or QB sneaks to keep the offense moving forward. But I doubt he will unless Tua has another disaster of a game. If the team is more competitive with Ewers/Wilson, we’ll have our answer. If McD fails with Tua or either of the other two, we’ll also know what needs to happen after the season is over. So Grier was step one. The rest of this season will decide step two.
phinette23 says just eat the money next season and start anew.
Get rid of tuna 🐟. It will make for a painful year, but Sean Payton knew what he was doing in dumping Russ. We have to start over and that journey doesn’t include Tua.
phinfan413 wants a change away from Ross, but he’s not going anywhere, and then his daughter will take over.
What now? As long as Ross is in charge we already know. Just rinse and repeat the same dysfunction and mediocrity that he’s overseen since he bought the team. The more things change the more they stay the same.
Nator56 hasn’t met Bill yet, I guess.
f***ed again is what us fans are again. Fins have won shit since 1973. I was a junior in high school. bring back Gruden as GM and head coach and clean house
Bill Moody says that we are going to need to live with some bad football for a while until the team can shred some of the bad contracts and rebuild the roster.
Absolutely the right move to make. Whether it was 2 weeks too late or 10 years too late, doesn’t really change things… it’s finally done. Where do we go from here… well, I know it’s asking a lot of a fanbase that hasn’t seen much success in the past quarter century, but buckle up for about 2 and a half years of sucking while the team sheds contracts and starts to rebuild.
There just isn’t enough to salvage in terms of players with our current cap situation to try and turn this ship around. A full nuclear reset is needed. The new GM; whomever that will be, will hopefully get us started on that sooner rather than later.
NeenerWhacker says, “Get the right QB in here, and then we can talk.”
The truth is, you can have all the picks in the world. If you don’t have the right quarterback, it doesn’t matter.
