On Tuesday morning, the Cincinnati Bengals traded long-time linebacker Logan Wilson to the Dallas Cowboys for a seventh-round NFL Draft pick.
Wilson, who requested a trade after he was benched in favor of rookie linebacker Barrett Carter before the team’s first of two defensive collapses that led to losses, who earned the nickname “The Cowboy” while at Wyoming, will, ironically, wear Dallas’ star.
The 2024 Bengals’ defense was absolutely terrible and deserves the lion’s share of the blame for a team with Joe Burrow’s stat line and Ja’Marr Chase’s Triple Crown to miss the playoffs. Zac Taylor used Lou Anarumo as a scapegoat, fired him, and then handpicked Al Golden, Notre Dame’s defensive coordinator, to take over. Now, an epically bad defense is somehow worse.
And by worse, I mean historically worse.
Wilson, who helped lead the Bengals’ defense to a Super Bowl and two consecutive conference championship appearances, is tied for the lead in interceptions from linebackers since he entered the league as a third-round pick in 2020 with 11, and he’s broken up 25 others.
What grade do you give the Bengals for their trade of Wilson?
