4:00 p.m. today will be the last time that the Colts can add a player from another team, unless a player is waived and everyone below us in the standings passes on them. We’ve been saying for weeks that we love our offense and think the D could be good enough for a deep run, provided we get healthy and add a piece. Our choices often differ, as their are three camps, representing three needs.
One camp believes that we need to add a pass rusher. The guy that many were targeting is now an Eagle, but there are other options that have been shared by anyone willing to pick up a mic or a keyboard. It is a legit concern to the eye test, even if the stats say that we are above the league average when considering pressures per game. Pressures per play is a different story. If you choose this option, feel free to tell me who and for how much.
When I asked this question around three weeks ago, a #2 corner was the top vote getter. This was with a healthy Ward and an injured Jones. Their status is now switched, but we could have both healthy after the bye. Might it be a depth piece? Again, if you have thoughts, put them in the comments.
The last group would like to upgrade the Linebacker room. The prevailing sentiment is that our guys are just not good enough in coverage and Carlies is only a name on the roster in many minds, since our visual of him on the field is nearly non existent. Those types do not grow on trees, so we haven’t heard as many names associated with this group.
We do know that if a player has every played for Lou in any capacity, or in Lou’s defense, then he has been listed as a fit for the Colts. Some also feel that it would be too far outside of Ballard’s comfort level, to make the big swing and that even if we do add, it will be more depth than starter.
So, your choices will be whether we add a starter or depth, along with the position. Or, the CB won’t do anything route.
