Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor made it clear when speaking to the media Monday that there will be no changes to the coaching staff, specifically on the defensive side of the ball. Even though that is the result most of us expected, it is still a bit of a surprise when you look at how bad the last two weeks have been.
While Taylor backed defensive coordinator Al Golden, one of his players did as well. When talking to reporters on Monday, Stone showed his support for Golden.
Stone says the scheme Golden puts together does put players in a position to succeed. With the Bengals leading the NFL in missed tackles, there is an argument to be made in Stone’s favor. Golden can draw up the best scheme possible, but if players can’t finish tackles, it won’t matter.
Golden doesn’t play between the white lines, but in the NFL, coaches take the heat when their unit doesn’t produce. For now, Golden’s job is safe, and one of his veteran players appears to have his back.
