The Cincinnati Bengals have now lost another defensive player as 2025 first-round pick Shemar Stewart left the 47-42 loss to the Chicago Bears with a knee injury late in the game, which led to him quickly being ruled out.
The Bengals were already without Trey Hendrickson, and the pass rush has been desperate to find anyone who can produce this season.
Stewart has struggled to get anything going this season after missing multiple weeks with an ankle injury sustained back in week two against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The former Texas A&M Aggie did not flash at all this afternoon, other than his only pressure on Caleb Williams earlier in the ballgame.
The Bengals did not pay Hendrickson a long-term extension this offseason and cashed in their first-round pick on Stewart, hoping for a boost, but that decision has proved wrong thus far.
Regardless of production so far this season, no one wants to see Stewart leave with a knee injury. Let’s hope this isn’t a long-term problem, despite the Bengals’ decision to declare him out so quickly.
