The Cincinnati Bengals are 3-5, and there doesn’t seem to be a lot of interest in giving star pass rusher Trey Hendrickson the kind of guaranteed money he desires after the season.
So one might think the Bengals would trade Hendrickson to a team in need of a pass rush boost.
But, according to NFL insider Jeremy Fowler, they “have rebuffed trade inquiries, and sources have maintained that Cincinnati has no plans to trade Hendrickson right now.”
He did add that the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers are among the interested teams. Of course, the 49ers traded for Keion White earlier this week.
Fowler mentioned one other scenario: “The Colts make a ton of sense as a contending team that could be the proverbial ‘one player away.’”
This, of course, would reunite Hendrickson with Lou Anarumo, who is the current defensive coordinator of the Indianapolis Colts and the man who oversaw Hendrickson’s rise to stardom in Cincinnati.
The insider added that Hendrickson’s hip injury shouldn’t be much of a factor, as he is expected to be ready for the stretch run.
In the meantime, the Bengals’ defense needs Hendrickson out there to help a defense that has struggled mightily in recent weeks.
Up next, they get a matchup with Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears. Listen to our prediction below.
