Survey: Should the Giants trade for a receiver after losing Cam Skattebo?

We’re less than a week away from the NFL’s 2025 trade deadline on Tuesday, November 4th, at 4pm (eastern).

There has been speculation that the New York Giants could be active on the trade market as they try to reinforce their roster around Jaxson Dart. However, we got reports late last week from both The Atlantic and ESPN indicating that the Giants were more likely to stand pat and not engage with the trade market.

But did things change when the team lost Cam Skattebo for the season?

The loss of Malik Nabers and Skattebo for the season has laid the Giants offensive depth (or lack thereof) bare. While Dart has been impressive since taking over the starting job — remarkably so for a rookie — he hasn’t gotten much help. Wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson and tight end Daniel Bellinger have been Dart’s only consistently dependable options, and Bellinger left Sunday’s game with a neck injury.

The Giants may not want to sink future capital in a team that isn’t going anywhere this year, but they also have to do what they can to maintain an environment in which Dart can continue to grow and improve. There’s a risk that Dart’s growth could be stunted if his receivers consistently run poor routes or can’t hang onto the ball. Perhaps worse, Dart wants to make a play and will hold the ball if receivers can’t get open. And that will lead to the young man taking unnecessary hits thanks to his never-say-die attitude.

Learning when discretion is the better part of valor is an important part of learning how to be a quarterback in the NFL, but the Giants also do not want Dart’s competitive edge to be dulled — or for him to suffer a significant injury.

And Dart has been among the league’s best at balancing Big Time Throws with risk management.

So now we want to put it to you: Should the Giants invest future draft picks and (or) players in getting a receiver for Dart?

And if so, which receiver would you like the Giants to target? Obviously we can’t list every receiver the Giants could potentially acquire. Likewise, we’ve heard that bigger names like Chris Olave and Jaylen Waddle aren’t available, and Jakobi Meyers may not be, either.

With that in mind, I picked out three receivers who could be on the Giants’ radar. Each is in his prime and could be a primary option this year, as well as a WR 1b or high quality WR 2 with Malik Nabers next year.

A) Jerry Jeudy — A reclamation project who has upside. Jeudy (26) in particular also has a history with Russell Wilson and Brian Daboll (at Denver and Alabama, respectively). This is likely the middle price option.

B) Rashid Shaheed — A slightly older vet (27) with somewhat limited offensive production, and is on a 1-year contract. Shaheed would probably be the least expensive option.

C) Garrett Wilson — Wilson is the “home run” swing. He’s a young (25) vet who started his career with three 1,000-yard seasons despite catching passes from Zach Wilson, Mike White, Joe Flacco, Trevor Siemian, and a 41-year old Aaron Rodgers. Wilson would be the expensive option, likely costing the Giants’ 2nd round pick and perhaps more.

The poll also has “No” for those of you who don’t think the Giants should pursue a receiver before the 2026 off-season.
