New York Giants NFL draft order 2026; Week 9 power rankings

With the New York Giants at 2-6, once again basically out of NFC playoff contention at the halfway point of the NFL season, no Giants fans can be blamed for turning a lot of their attention toward the 2026 NFL Draft.

With that in mind, we are going to combine our Week 9 NFL power rankings post with a look at the draft order. In fact, that is where we will start.

Giants No. 6 in current NFL Draft order

The Giants are No. 6 in the current draft order, per Tankathon. The top 6 are:

  1. New Orleans Saints (1-7)
  2. New York Jets (1-7)
  3. Tennessee Titans (1-7)
  4. Cleveland Browns (2-6)
  5. Miami Dolphins (2-6)
  6. Giants (2-6)

The Athletic projects the Giants to finish with the eighth overall pick.

It is early for the draft order discussion, but I know many of you are already following it. so, there it is.

Giants Week 9 NFL power rankings

The Giants have been near the bottom, and can’t really fall very far at this point.

ESPN | No. 28 (Down from No. 27)

Best offseason addition: QB Jaxson Dart

The rookie quarterback has impressed despite being 2-3 as a starter. He has injected life into a lifeless Giants offense that had trouble scoring the previous two-plus seasons. It’s more than just Dart’s arm. Perhaps most impressive has been his ability to avoid sacks and use his legs. Dart joined Cam Newton this week as the only quarterbacks since 1950 to have a passing and rushing touchdown in four of their first five career starts, per ESPN Research.

They’re laying the foundation for a promising future.

The Athletic | No. 26 (Down from No. 23)

Something scary: Brian Daboll’s record

Since the start of the 2023 season, the Giants have won 11 games. Only the Titans have won fewer, and they’ve had three coaches in that time. Daboll has won 34.7 percent of his games since taking the job in 2022, and his win total has gone down every year. Things aren’t going to get much better now that Cam Skattebo is out with an ankle injury.

CBS Sports | No. 26

Losing running back Cam Skattebo with a dislocated ankle is a big hit to an offense that was limited without Malik Nabers. This will challenge Jaxson Dart in a big way.

FOX Sports | No. 27 (Down from No. 26)

It was no surprise, really, that the Giants gave up 150 yards to old friend Saquon Barkley and lost a 13th straight game in Philadelphia. But it sure is alarming that their defense keeps looking worse and worse.

Bleacher Report | No. 26 (Down from No. 24)

The Giants grew into a team that was fun to watch, mainly due to the play of rookies Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo. Unfortunately, Skattebo suffered a gruesome ankle injury that will end his first NFL season.

Granted, Dart still provides plenty of hope, because he has the looks of a legitimate franchise quarterback. But he wasn’t as dynamic or as creative during Sunday’s action.

Over the last two games against good defenses, the rookie has been confused a bit and completed only 51 percent of his passes. The season is now built around Dart and his growth. He won’t have his running mate, which is unfortunate. Still, it’s a quarterback-driven league.

Yahoo! Sports | No. 25 (Same as last week)

Cam Skattebo’s injury is horrible for multiple reasons. He gave Giants fans something to get excited about in what isn’t going to be a winning season. Also, that looked like an injury that won’t be easy to bounce back from. It was terrible news for an exciting rookie.

The Ringer | No. 26 (Down from No. 25)

New York was riding as high as a two-win team could when it was fresh off embarrassing the Eagles in Week 6 and building a 19-point lead on the Broncos in the first three quarters of last week’s game. But across the last quarter of that game and Week 8, the Giants defense surrendered 71 points, quarterback Jaxson Dart was pressured 19 times (and sacked six times), and running back Cam Skattebo suffered a gruesome, season-ending ankle injury. Whatever hopes existed that the Giants would be a frisky playoff competitor have vanished, and the schedule isn’t getting any easier from here.
