Logan Wilson is not happy about being benched.
The veteran linebacker, still only 29 years old, lost his starting spot to rookie Barrett Carter earlier this season.
The results thus far have been mixed.
But Wilson doesn’t want to wait around to see how things play out.
Yesterday, he requested a trade out of Cincinnati.
And now we have Zac Taylor’s response.
The head coach told Wilson to “just keep focused on being here and helping us as best we can”.
He added that Wilson has “handled it really well” and “done a great job with the young linebackers”.
According to Taylor, the move is “more about Barrett than it was about Logan”.
“I see a very high ceiling in Barrett,” Taylor said. “I see qualities in him I wanted to see more of. The only way to do that is expand the role.”
How much of that is coach speak is up to you to decide.
Up next, the Bengals play the New York Jets on Sunday.
Improvement from the defense’s young players would be great to see. But at the very least, the offense seems capable of winning the game for Cincinnati.
Here’s a quick look back at least week’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
