They’re heading into the locker rooms at halftime at SoFi Stadium, and your Minnesota Vikings are getting thumped by the Los Angeles Chargers to the tune of 21-3 on Thursday Night Football.
The Chargers had the ball to start the second quarter, and they wasted little time adding to their lead as they got a 3-yard touchdown run from Kimani Vidal to extend their lead to 14-0 just two minutes into the second quarter.
Minnesota finally got on the board, courtesy of. . .who else. . .Will Reichard, who drilled a 54-yard field goal attempt to get the Vikings on the board at 14-3. Then, the Vikings’ defense got their first stop of the evening, and Chargers’ kicker Cameron Dicker pushed a 49-yard field goal attempt wide to the right to give the Vikings an opportunity to get back into the game.
The Vikings wound up punting, and the Chargers went into their two-minute offense. They marched down the field and got another touchdown pass from Herbert, this one a 27-yarder to Ladd McConkey to make it 21-3 with less than a minute remaining in the half. The Vikings got themselves into position for Reichard to attempt another field goal, but his try from 53 yards was short and that’s how they went into the locker room.
It’s been a bit of an ugly one for the purple thus far, as they trail the Chargers by a score of 21-3 at halftime, and the Chargers will get the ball to start the second half. Can the Vikings get anything figured out? Come join us for the third quarter of play and find out!
