Former Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Ken Anderson is now one step closer to the deserved honor of enshrinement into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
A group of 52 senior nominees was trimmed down to 34 eligible players by the Hall of Fame’s blue-ribbon committee, and Anderson remained on the list after the cuts, so he is still in the running to receive a bronze bust in Canton. Anderson is one of three quarterbacks to remain on the list, joined by Roman Gabriel and Charlie Conerly.
Anderson, a Bengals Ring of Honor member, spent his entire 16-year career with the Bengals, where he threw for 32,838 yards and 197 touchdowns. He was also under center for the Bengals’ appearance in Super Bowl XVI.
In an era that didn’t throw the football nearly as much as we see today, Anderson was one of the best quarterbacks of his generation, and hopefully, he gets his moment at the Hall of Fame this go around and has a chance to see his name inducted into football immortality.
