The 2025 NFL trade deadline is set for 4 PM ET on November 4th, and as we’ve learned already, the 1-6 Miami Dolphins intend to be sellers at this year’s deadline.
As we’ve seen in the past, anything can happen in the coming weeks, but to play ball, the Dolphins had to clear up some cap space.
Today, they did just that.
According to ESPN’s Field Yates, the Dolphins have agreed to restructure Jordyn Brooks’ contract. The move frees up an additional $3 million in cap space this season.
Brooks, 28, signed a three-year, $26.25 million deal with the Dolphins in 2024. In his second season with Miami, Brooks currently leads the league in tackles with 75 and continues to be a leader in the middle of Anthony Weaver’s defense.
Some have asked what this means for Brooks?
Personally, I don’t think he’s going anywhere, but again, stranger things have happened. To me, and others much smarter than I, it appears the team is reshuffling cap space to trade away one of their high-priced players. Doing so allows the team to take on additional cap, which could fetch a higher trade asset in return. Then again, maybe it’s not in the team’s best interest to let General Manager Chris Grier have his finger on the pulse.
No matter what happens, things are about to get really interesting in the coming weeks if you’re a Miami Dolphins fan — especially if the product on the field continues to fall flat.
