Miami Dolphins rookie cornerback Jason Marshall Jr. was designated to return from injured reserve today — opening his 21-day practice window. He participated in the team’s practice on Wednesday on a limited basis.
Marshall Jr. missed Miami’s last four games after suffering a hamstring injury during the second quarter of the Dolphins’ week three loss to the Buffalo Bills.
Prior to his injury, Marshall Jr. played 63 defensive snaps through a little more than two games played, while adding an additional 15 snaps on special teams.
Marshall Jr. was selected by the Dolphins in the fifth round (150th overall) of the 2025 NFL Draft after playing 45 games in four seasons with the Florida Gators in college. During his time as a Gator, he intercepted two passes while tallying 25 passes defensed. He also contributed one forced fumble.
Despite primarily playing outside cornerback while in college, Marshall Jr. had been getting an extensive look as a nickel corner in Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver’s defense before going down with injury. He has amassed three combined tackles during his limited play this season.
We will continue to monitor Jason Marshall Jr.’s practice participation as the week unfolds to see if the young defensive back will be ready to make his return to action this Sunday when the Dolphins square off against the Atlanta Falcons and their second-year quarterback, Michael Penix Jr.
