Indianapolis Colts fans’ optimism has to be nearly sky high right now, as the Horseshoe Faithful have watched a projected bottom feeder entering the year surprisingly transform overnight into the current toast of the AFC at 6-1—and now riding a three-game winning streak.
One could even make the argument, that aside from young wideout AD Mitchell’s Week 4 gaffes on the road against the Los Angeles Rams, that this Colts squad could even still be undefeated right now. However, it’s also fair to acknowledge that they got a fortunate leverage call on a last second, game-winning field goal attempt against the Denver Broncos at home in Week 2, so perhaps that was the football gods evening things out a bit.
While no NFL game is a given, hosting the struggling Tennessee Titans (+14.5) this Sunday at 1-6, that winning streak is expected to only continue barring a serious letdown by the Colts this weekend against a longtime AFC South divisional rival (dating back to the ‘co-MVP’ Peyton Manning vs. Steve McNair early division days).
This surprising Colts juggernaut is currently the #1 seed in the AFC playoff race, and while there’s admittedly still a long ways to go, this is starting to look and feel like a legitimate conference contender. Not just a ‘maybe sneak into the Wild card game type of team,’ but a well-rounded, strong Colts squad that is capable of making a deep playoff run, playing late winter football—which has certainly been a long time coming in Indianapolis.
How are you feeling, Colts fans?
