They’re heading into the locker rooms at halftime at U.S. Bank Stadium, and our Minnesota Vikings are trailing the Philadelphia Eagles by a score of 14-6.
The Vikings started the quarter with the ball, but on a third down play Carson Wentz threw a pass directly to Jalyx Hunt. That’s bad, because Hunt plays for the Eagles. Hunt then cruised into the end zone for a 42-yard pick six, and just like that the Vikings were down by a score of 14-3.
And things didn’t get any better on the next possession for the Vikings, as they managed to put themselves into 2nd-and-25, and then Wentz launched one deep towards Jordan Addison in double coverage and threw another interception, this one by Andrew Mukuba to set the Eagles up near midfield.
Minnesota’s defense forced a three-and-out after the interception, and Wentz responded with a pair of great throws. One went to Jalen Nailor for 26 yards, and then he found Justin Jefferson for 40 more to put the Vikings into the red zone. The Vikings got themselves into a 4th-and-1 from the Eagles’ 6-yard line, and a touchdown pass from Wentz to Jalen Nailor was negated by a hold on Blake Brandel, leaving the Vikings to settle for a 33-yard field goal from Will Reichard to make it 14-6.
The Vikings forced another three-and-out and got the ball out near midfield at the two-minute warning. Unfortunately, the offense stalled and they punted the ball back to Philadelphia. The Eagles couldn’t get anything going on their final possession of the half, and that’s how they went into the locker room.
The Vikings played about as ugly a first half as you could put together, and they find themselves down just 8 going into halftime. They’ll get the ball first coming out of the locker room.
We’re at halftime, folks, and the Vikings trail the Eagles by a score of 14-6. Come on in and join us for the third quarter of play!
