It feels like this game against the Minnesota Vikings is going to tell us a lot about the 2025 Philadelphia Eagles.
Following two losses to drop to 4-2, the Birds are potentially facing an inflection point.
Is even more losing on the way? Or can they rebound?
To me, it’s a very big spot for Nick Sirianni.
The Eagles’ Super Bowl-winning head coach obviously has a very strong track record of winning football games.
But it’s hard to see what he’s been bringing to the table more recently. That loss to the New York Giants was alarming. And so if the fact that the Eagles have been outgained in every single game this year.
The Eagles have not looked tough. The Eagles have not looked detailed. The Eagles have not looked together.
Sirianni has helped turn things around when it’s looked and felt bad before. Look no further than last season.
The Eagles don’t need to come out and dominate. They don’t even really need to win (though that much is obviously preferable).
They absolutely DO need to look ready to play. They DO need to show signs that they’re not just constantly plagued by the same problems game after game.
The offense simply cannot go completely ice cold for prolonged stretches of the game, as has been the case all season long.
The defense needs to be more physical than they were the last time they played.
The Vikings have some really good players and they have one of the league’s best coaching staffs. But the Eagles should be able to outshine them.
Losing to Carson Wentz would really not be fun. Vic Fangio’s group needs to be able to sack him and/or force him into turning the ball over. Jalen Hurts and the Eagles’ offense needs to be able to take advantage of those extra possessions that could be coming their way.
Getting a win here would be pretty good. It gives the Birds a chance to get revenge on the Giants next week to advance to 6-2 at their bye.
Let’s see if they can pull it off.
