The Eagles lost two edge rushers to injury — Nolan Smith and Ogbo Okoronkwo — and then Za’Darius Smith announced his sudden retirement, and roster depth quickly became a concern. Many solutions have been thrown around, but one that gained some traction this week was recently-retired Brandon Graham re-joining the team.
It seemed like a lot of dreaming, but ahead of the Eagles Week 7 game against the Vikings, it was reported that the 15-year veteran is actually considering coming out of retirement. The NFL.com report said that Graham and the Eagles have had some discussions about him coming back to help out a depleted edge rush group, but there wasn’t any final decision just yet, although it looks like there will be one soon.
There’s a lot to consider in bringing Graham back, but he probably was still working with the Eagles medical staff rehabbing from his triceps injury from the Super Bowl, and has stayed in shape. Vic Fangio admitted that he might consider moving Jihaad Campbell outside with Nakobe Dean back in the lineup, but Graham returning could be a better option.
