The Las Vegas Raiders got a boost Friday when star tight end Brock Bowers and No.1 wide receiver Jakobi Meyers both were practicing for the first time this week.
ESPN reported Bowers wasn’t wearing a knee brace, which is significant. This was his first time practicing since October 1. He was injured in Week 1, but played through the injury for the next three weeks. He has missed the past two games.
Earlier in the week, Raiders coach Pete Carroll said Bowers was making progress, but he also noted it might be smart to allow Bowers to rest until after their bye next week. Thus the team may aim to get Bowers to return for a Week 9 home game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Meyers missed practice Wednesday and Thursday with knee and toe issues. Meyers has been the subject of trade rumors for weeks and those rumors have increased in recent days.
After practice Friday, Carroll indicated Meyers worked more than Bowers did in practice.
Meyers indeed has a better chance to play at the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday than Bowers. Meyers is listed as questionable on the injury report to play Sunday, while Bowers is listed as doubtful.
Backup wide receiver/returner Alex Bachman is questionable with an ankle injury.
Meanwhile, the Chiefs will be without rookie tackle Josh Simmons again because of personal reasons. He wasn’t with the team Sunday when they beat the Detroit Lions and he didn’t practice all this week. He was ruled out Friday. Jaylon Moore will continue to play for him.
